We Start With Evidence: The Lents Conditions Assessment

Before asking anyone for a dollar or an hour, we documented the problem. The Lents Conditions Assessment pairs historical street-level imagery with current conditions across Lents' key corridors — SE 82nd Avenue, SE 111th Street, and SE Foster Road — and converts what we find into specific, actionable recommendations: which blocks need cleanup, which sidewalks need advocacy, which corners need light.

One early finding: a residential stretch of SE 111th has had no sidewalks in any street imagery from 2007 to 2024 — seventeen years without basic pedestrian infrastructure. That's the kind of verifiable, fixable problem this work exists to surface.

The full assessment is updated annually, so progress — or backsliding — is a matter of public record. Full report forthcoming.

Current Project: The 111th Street Cleanup

Our first project starts close to home, in the Lents neighborhood: SE 111th Street, where illegal dumping, abandoned vehicles, and accumulated debris have degraded the corridor — and where our assessment documented the missing-sidewalk gaps described above.

This is what Restore Portland is about: pick a street, do the work, show the before and after. If you live near 111th, drive it every day, or just want to help — we want to hear from you.

Our Mission

  1. Neighborhood cleanup and beautification. Volunteer-powered cleanups, graffiti removal, and green-up projects.
  2. Lawful community safety, lighting, and security partnerships. Working with neighbors and local partners to make streets safer and better lit.
  3. Relationships with police and emergency services. A constructive, working relationship with the people who keep us safe.
  4. Sidewalk-gap documentation and infrastructure advocacy. Mapping what's broken or missing — and pushing City Hall to fix it.
  5. Business revitalization initiatives. A healthy main street makes a healthy neighborhood. (future phase)

We build credibility the old-fashioned way: by showing up, doing visible work, and documenting real results. Cleanups first, partnerships always, and steady advocacy for the infrastructure our neighborhoods need.
